Al-Ameen Funds (UBL) Al-Ameen Islamic Funds Suite (Cash, Sovereign & Income)
Islamic Investing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
UBL Fund Managers' dedicated Islamic brand: Rs 191.38 billion in Shariah-compliant AUM at July 31, 2026 across 7 mutual funds, 4 administrative plans and 3 VPS, serving 95,871 clients under an AM1 rating from VIS. The cash and income core spans the Al-Ameen Islamic Cash Fund (AA+(f), no-load, fee up to 1.5%), Islamic Sovereign Fund (AA(f), GoP Ijarah focus, 1% investment charge) and Islamic Income Fund with its unusual income-linked fee (10% of net income, 0.25-1.5% p.a. bounds). Entry is Rs 500 shelf-wide - the lowest of Pakistan's big three - with Shariah oversight from named advisors Mufti Muhammad Hassaan Kaleem and Mufti Muhammad Najeeb Khan and two 2026 Lipper Global Islamic awards. The caveat: fund pages showed a year-stale placeholder NAV at review, so transact via UBL's live-data channels.
Al-Ameen has the ingredients of a first-rate Islamic fund family: Rs 191 billion of Shariah AUM, credible named scholars, Lipper-validated performance, and the friendliest minimums in the market at Rs 500. What it doesn't have is a website you can trust. At our review every fund page displayed the same placeholder NAV from August 2025 - a year stale - while per-fund sizes and returns hid inside JS-gated FMR PDFs. For a franchise this large, that is a disclosure failure, not a quirk: an investor relying on alameenfunds.com alone would be misinformed about prices by a factor of five on the stock fund. The funds themselves appear well-run and cheaply accessible. Invest through the UBL Funds explorer or app where live data exists, and treat the brand site as marketing until it's fixed.
Pros
- Lowest entry point among major Islamic AMCs - Rs 500 opens any fund on the shelf
- Named advisors with serious credentials and an annual per-fund certification cycle
- Won both 2026 Lipper Global Islamic awards it entered - third-party performance validation
- Dedicated all-Islamic brand and website separated from UBL's conventional shelf (since late 2025)
Cons
- Every alameenfunds.com fund page renders an identical stale placeholder NAV dated Aug 5, 2025 - nearly a year old at our Aug 3, 2026 review and wrong by roughly 5x for the stock fund; live prices exist only on ublfunds.com.pk
- Per-fund AUM and returns are not published on any fund page - fund-level data requires FMR PDFs locked behind a JavaScript-only downloads panel that renders empty
- Screening thresholds unpublished (no numbers on the debt/cash/interest tests) and no purification policy on the compliance page
- Parent UBL Fund Managers still runs a conventional shelf - the Al-Ameen brand is Islamic, the manager is not

Why It's Halal
Al-Ameen is the Islamic brand of UBL Fund Managers, running Rs 191.38 billion of exclusively Shariah-compliant AUM (July 31, 2026) across seven mutual funds under two named advisors of genuine standing: Mufti Muhammad Hassaan Kaleem (Deloitte Global Islamic Finance consultant) and Mufti Muhammad Najeeb Khan (Habib Metropolitan Bank's Shariah advisor, trained under Mufti Taqi Usmani). The compliance page describes business-activity screening that excludes conventional banking, weapons, gambling, adult entertainment, alcohol, pork and tobacco, plus financial-ratio tests on debt, cash and interest income, ongoing monitoring, and an annual Shariah review with a downloadable certificate for each fund. The core suite is unusually accessible - Rs 500 minimums across the shelf, the lowest of Pakistan's big-three Islamic AMCs - with the no-load AA+(f)-rated Islamic Cash Fund, the AA(f) Islamic Sovereign Fund (GoP Ijarah sukuk) and an Islamic Income Fund whose fee is an unusual income-linked formula (10% of net income, bounded 0.25-1.5% p.a.). Two things temper the endorsement: the numeric screening thresholds and the purification policy are not published (unlike Al Meezan), and the brand's own website has serious data hygiene problems investors need to know about before relying on it.
